Community Leader and Business Owner Passes Away

William F “Bill” Karbowski, brother, father, and grandfather, went home to be with our lord on Thursday, January 7, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Bill was born in Crump, Michigan to Stanley and Elsie (Rogner) Karbowski on May 6, 1944. He attended Pinconning High School and graduated in 1962. He received a master’s degree in math at Central Michigan University in 1966. On August 19, 1967 Bill married Mary Jane (Wilson). They adopted two children, Kelly and Susan (Sheahan). Bill was a math teacher, for Pinconning High School, assistant principal for Pinconning High School until 1977. In the late 1970’s he left education to become a farmer and was the owner/operator of Karbowski Farms. He was elected supervisor of Garfield Township and served two terms. Bill started B and K Appraisal, holding a certification as a level 3 state certified assessor until 2017, serving several townships in Gladwin, Midland, Arenac, Iosco and Bay Counties. He serviced most of Michigan’s lower peninsula as a certified general appraiser from 1991 until stepping away from the business in 2019. Bill was very active in his membership at Kawkawlin Community Church and remained very active in public service. He served on the board of education for Pinconning Area Schools in the mid 1990’s and several terms on the Bay-Arenac ISD Board of Education until the time of his passing.
