Carolyn A. Loesel

Carolyn Anne Loesel passed from this life and entered the beauty of God’s presence on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the age of 82. She was born on March 23, 1940, to Robert and Karen Ratter in Portland, Oregon. She was born anew in Christ through Holy Baptism in April of 1940, forming within her a life-long faith in her Lord and Savior. She attended Portland State College and was employed in clerical work. On July 30, 1967, Carol was married to Rev. Andrew Loesel. They were blessed with one son, Timothy. Carol was actively involved in the churches they served in Idaho, Oregon, Michigan, and Arizona. She enjoyed participating in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, singing in the choir, working with the Altar Guild, joining in Bible Studies, providing a greeting card ministry, and served for many years as a Church Secretary. She was also involved in several community food banks. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Pinconning. Carol loved flowers, music, and people.

Carol is survived by her husband Andrew, and her son Timothy; a sister Betty (William) Schilling, of North Hollywood, CA; sisters-in-law Betty Ratter of Oregon, Eleanor (George) Krueger of Monroe, MI, Bernieda Kernstock of Bay City, and Eileen Loesel of Bay City; brothers-in-law Allen (Pamela) Loesel of St. Charles, MO, and Jonathan (Debbie) Loesel of Clare, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, by her brother Robert Ratter, her sister Nancy Ratter, and her brother-in-law Eugene Kernstock.

A funeral service took place on Wednesday, November 30, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Amelith), 1664 Amelith Road, Bay City, MI. Visitation was at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League or the City Rescue Mission of Saginaw.
