Cecelia (Cis) Whyte-Letchfield
Cecelia (Dunnigan) (Whyte), age 100, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home at 2:00 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2021. This was a tremendous blessing, as this was always her wish. She was born on March 21, 1921, in Pinconning, Michigan, to the late Lloyd and Mable (Bowen) Dunnigan. She graduated from St. Michael’s High School, Class of 1938, and was the oldest survivor of the class. She retired from Standish Community Hospital, where she practiced as a nurse. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Louis Whyte. She later married Frances (Doc) Letchfield, who also pre-deceased her. She enjoyed travel, reading, spending time at the cottage in Greenbush, and family gatherings. She is survived by her sons; Jack (Sandra) Whyte and Robert Whyte, 5 grandchildren, Deb (Scott) Socier, Jack Louis (Julie) Whyte, James Whyte, Jeffery (Samantha) Whyte, and Ann (Ryan) Rechsteiner; 15 great-grandchildren, Jamie Rosebrugh (Craig), Amanda Rosebrugh (Kevin), John Rosebrugh, Janae Whyte, Olivia Whyte, Rachel Whyte, Taylor Whyte, Tyler Whyte, Shannon Baker, Mariah Baker, Scarlett Whyte, Madelyn Whyte, Lucas Rechsteiner, Mallory Rechsteiner, and Elizabeth Rechsteiner; 5 great-great-grandchildren, Jax Sandhagen, Jakob Sandhagen, Wyatt Rosebrugh, Stella Cunningham, and Silas Cunningham. She is also survived by her sister, Rosemary Miller, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends. She was also pre-deceased by her brother, William (Bernice) Dunnigan, sisters Doris (Tom) Ellery and Cleo Kozero, brother-in-law, Arnold Miller, sisters Tina (David) Worden, and Marion (Marvin) Rashotte.
Per Cis’ wishes, cremation has taken place, as well as a private ceremony with immediate family in attendance. Her ashes will be placed at St. Michael’s Cemetery, alongside her two loving husbands.
