Leon Wallace Friesorger

Leon Wallace Friesorger, age 80, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2023. He was born on January 31, 1943, in Lansing, Michigan to the late Wallace & Bernice (Hasty) Friesorger. Leon was a graduate of Handy High School, Class of 1962. He married his high school sweetheart, Janet McComb on February 14, 1962. Leon retired from GM Powertrain after 35 years of service. During retirement, he drove cars for several dealerships, most recently for Roger McIntosh of Linwood, and Richardson’s of Standish. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, snowmobiling, golf, and cars (or anything with wheels). He liked camping with the Wanigas Sams and Sunrise Sams camping clubs, where he served as Chaplain. Most of all, Leon loved spending time with his family and with his church family.

Leon is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet, 2 daughters; Bernice (Harley) Nuss of Salina, KS, and Ruth (Brad) Sisson of Clarksville, TN, he was the proud grandfather of; David (Sarah) Friesorger, Shea Holbrook, Sierra, Cheyenne, Vance Sisson, great-grandchildren; Brodie Walters, and Riley Friesorger. Also survived by sisters; Shirley (Albert) Williams of Wildwood, FL, and Edith (Michael) Hurst, also of Wildwood, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers; David, and Douglas, his sister; Jackie Mimbs.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Covenant Cooper Hospital for their exceptional care in Leon’s last days, especially to Terry White, who was a great comfort to him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 4:00 pm at the former St. Mary Church, 739 W. Cody Estey Rd, Pinconning, Michigan with Pastor John Woolard presiding. Friends and family may visit at the church from 3:00 pm until time of service. Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Pinconning Chapel assisted in arrangements.
